  1. Actually this country goes to individualized society and we cannot resist toward it. I think the most critical reason is some kind of westernization or industrialization and so on. This would be somewhat comfortable, but I think the dark side is larger than the other side. Recently, there were many issues related with some rude people in subway who beat old woman by pet bottle, and who harshly insulted old man even he had a fault. It might be said sufficiently that the individualism has some responsibility about that immoral guys :(

  2. In modern society, people want individualism is natural and reasonable. Development of science and technology make that there are no more needs for a large family system and individual person can survive alone. I think there can be both good and bad effect. Because Jelly fish already mentioned a bad effect, I treat a good effect. I think generalizing of individualism guarantee individual person’s rights and liberty. In the past, major had priority than minor. Individual person easily was ignored and missed their rights and liberty. Generalizing of individualism make major cannot carelessly treat minor and then individual person’s rights can be protected.

  3. We can easily see people who rarely socialize with their friends to save their money, time. Also to increase their efficiency of works. By rapidly industrialization, the number of nuclear family households is growing. So, it makes our society individualized. However, I think relationship with other people is very important to increase their own ability in social life.
First, the words like friendship and interpersonal relations became more meaningful and important in our life. The university is bigger than a high school in terms of size and the number of people it consists. So if we don't try to get along with other people, then the width of interpersonal relations could only get narrower. With such idea, I wanted to make true friend who will stay connected with me. Eventually, I made a best friend who always listens to my daily life story very well. I learned to make a good friend and the secret was to open my heart to others.
Second, we can learn how to work through troubles with others. One time I had a trouble with a friend and an older student told me, "I'm not saying you are stupid, so don't take it so emotionally". I was able to learn that systematic, rational reasoning instead of an emotional outrage will help me to resolve a conflict. So, whenever we come up against a tough situation, we give it a second thought before answer.
So I recommend them keeping good company instead of having individualism.

  4. As we saw in the article, the older people had no ability so they had to be singles inevitably. In contrast, young people select to be singles to keep their ability progress and to make not to waste their abilities because of other people. I think that this trend of recent people shows the existent circumstance of our society. It needs people's competition. Losers can't live in our society, so they don't count values of our traditional society. Instead of blaming young people, I think that government should tries to modify social structure and trend. Also it should tries to educate ethics properly from elementary school.

  5. As the article “More People Remain Single For Life” mentions, it seems like there are number of people who remain single even though their ages are about to or older than age to marry. I believe that this problem in Korea will cause problems such as decreasing population and number of young people, having potential future and increasing number of senior citizens who need to be cared. Then, these will lead to financial difficulty and lack of developing in global market. I think the causes of the situation are a fixed idea of both gender and individualism. Firstly, many Koreans think that man should have better intelligence background and better job (earning more money) than woman. Therefore, there are even less probability to meet someone who has suitable condition. Next, many people do not want to depend on other people but want to have their own lives. They want to get the best occupation and do not want to be disturbed by other people; however, if they marry, there are some limitations for them to do whatever they want.

  6. Individualism is also one of topics which are often discussed these days. As jellyfish and pineple asserted, there are both merits and flaws of being Individual. More people have right as human and able to have their own planned life than before while they are egoistic and stay be alone rather than hanging out with other people. I think the competitive society and fast developing atmosphere of my country cause the problem. People do not care about others and think that it does not matter if they can have better life in the competitive society. Therefore, they tend to hold each other in check and not to keep in close touch with others. Therefore, it is likely them to have Individual lives. Moreover, fast developing atmosphere causes people to keep being busy. They have enough time to enjoy times with other people.

  8. As the first articles, I can find some girls who don't want to marry in the future. In the past, women need to marry, beacuase they don't have abilities to earn money. So they need husband to supprort theirselves. However, these days, they can earn money without depeinding on husband. To them, the need disappears. It affects decrease of birthrate.
As the second articles, I can find some situation which shows indivisulism in school. Students don't want to teach and help each other because of relative evaluation. It has an effect on indivisulism in school.

  9. Well, we can see this phenomena easily. I think, imbalance of ratio of both genders and increasing of participation in society of woman are main causes. Especially, as the number of business women increases, the marigeable age is keeping higher and in some case, they don't get married because they are too old or couln't make a realationship with men. Also, nowadays, lots of women can earn money and some might think that they don't need to marry, because, in a past, most financial burden was for men, not women and that means lots of women couldn't live alone. However, nowadays, the situation has been changed.

  10. I have another opinion. I think that because of the improvement in the cell phones or internet network, this phenomenon has been worsen. By using these machines, we don't need to have the time to even say 'hello' in face to face; however, now we have more time to say hello to each other only in the online or in cellphone. Probably, improvment of technology is related to individualism.

  12. Because modren life is busy and complex, people behave indivudually. In addition, there are a lot of thing people can or have to do compared to past. In short it is natural that individualism dominates korea and other country also.
